![]() ![]() I should note that I'm running the latest tvOS 15 public beta version 8 and this issue has persisted through the previous 7 beta versions and I think even before I started using the tvOS 15 beta versions. Subtitles are already ON for the first video I play after doing this step. Uninstalling the Netflix and Hulu apps from both AppleTVs at the same time, then re-installing them and signing back in to both apps.Power draining (unplugging power for ~1 min) both AppleTVs at the same time.When you do so, a tick will appear beside it indicating that you want the subtitles to be turned off. Under Subtitles look for Off Subtitles tap on it. You will be provided with a page with options for Audio and Subtitles. That should do it, unless the subtitles are forced in the video for some. At the bottom of the screen (while the movie/series is playing) you will find Audio & Subtitles tap on it. Turn off subtitles: Swipe down or press the down button on the remote > Subtitles > Off. On the left-hand side, choose Video > Subtitles/OSD, and then uncheck the boxes for Autodetect subtitle files, Enable sub-pictures, and On Screen Display. Turn on subtitles: Swipe down or press the down button on the remote > Subtitles > the language you want. Turning off subtitles while watching a video in the Hulu and Netflix apps (swipe down > subtitles > OFF) (on both AppleTVs) Head into the VLC preferences, and then click the All button at the bottom of the screen.SETTINGS > ACCESSIBILITY > CLOSED CAPTIONS + SDH > OFF (on both AppleTVs).It also does not impact my other streaming devices including iPhone, Roku, web browser, and LG TV WebOS. This issue does not impact any other streaming apps used on my AppleTVs like HBOMax, Amazon Video, AppleTV+, etc. (Image credit: Netflix) With this menu open, navigate to either the top or bottom of your screen (depending on which device youre using) and select the speech bubble-shaped icon to open the Audio & Subtitles Menu. This switches OFF the audio descriptions. Choose any other option besides one with the phrase Audio Description or the letters AD in its name. Next, in the Audio list, tap your preferred audio option. I turn them off, they stay off for that video, then when the next video is played (via autoplay or manually selected) they come right back on automatically. Follow the above action to open the menu. To turn off closed captioning for an episode, navigate back to the image of the episode you would like to watch on a shows brand or season page and click the.
